The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Warm recent temperatures and forecasted highs will warm and weaken the snow today. The surface layer of supporting snow that rests on a very weak, faceted base will soften and the possibility for skiers or riders to trigger full depth slides will increase through the day. Wet, loose surface slides in steep, sunny areas will also be possible in the afternoon. Don't ride on steep slopes this afternoon and stay away from ravines, road cuts and avalanche run-out areas.

The West-Southwest flow will increase bringing a better chance of light snow to the mountains Wednesday. 9500 foot temperatures will rise into the low thirties and ridgetop winds will be Southwesterly at 25 miles per hour. The General Avalanche Hazard in the TETONS will be LOW at all elevations Wednesday morning, increasing to MODERATE in the afternoon due to the warm forecasted temperatures that increase the chance for wet, loose slides on steep Easterly to Southwesterly exposures. The General Avalanche Hazard will be MODERATE in the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass and Southwest Trails/Greys River areas in the morning and increase to CONSIDERABLE in the afternoon for the same reasons mentioned above and due to the possibility of triggering full snowpack hard slabs in steep areas. These slabs can slide even in areas that have seen considerable previous traffic. Warm temperatures will reduce the amount of force needed to trigger a slide.
