Surface slabs up to two feet in depth could be human triggered in steep, windloaded avalanche starting zones and have the potential to step down to depths of four feet.
Snowfall and strong northwest winds have formed surface slabs in steep wind loaded terrain. Skiers and riders have the potential to trigger these slabs as well as older slabs that lie upon persistent weak layers with in the snowpack above 7500 feet. Avalanches below that elevation are not expected today except for isolated pockets of loose snow sluffs and very small surface slabs.

Strong northwest winds and new snow have formed wind slabs at the mid and upper elevations. These slabs could have depths to eighteen inches and will be most sensitive along ridge crests and peaks where the most significant wind loading occurred.
