Quick report

We went to the Swan Lake area to welcome in the storm:

  • No obvious signs of instability
  • ~3 inches of new snow fell during our tour
  • We found only a couple pockets of wind-drifted snow that were wiling to produce cracks
  • These small slabs were still reluctant to slide downhill on a ~35* slope
  • New and wind-drifted snow sat atop Thursday's sun crust on aspects S through W
  • Our northwest descent held roughly 1 foot of well-preserved powder
  • Sluffs ran easily and traveled 200 vertical feet

We felt comfortable skiing extended steep slopes.

Just short, thin cracks in two small pockets.
