Quick report

Fun low density snow throughout the tour. Even with the hard base beneath the new snow it still made for quite enjoyable skiing. In steeper sections the new snow ran quite fast so be on your toes! Throughout the tour in handpits and small test slopes we were able to stubbornly kick out last week's wind slab on top of a thin faceted layer. We also got ECTP 4 on this layer 15cm↓. We were able to stubbornly kick off a layer beneath the old wind slab on some wind lipped test slopes. There was a small faceted layer beneath the slab that it seemed to break on.

Weather

Surprise sunny day despite what many of the models predicted. Eventually the clouds came in to eat most of the pass however they did bench out at ~3800. Cold, sunny and calm to light winds.

Snowpack

Between 1''-6'' of very low density snow on top of a stiff wind board. Our pit at 2900' on a SW aspect resulted in ECTP 4 15cm↓ on F hard facets beneath last week's windslab. We consistently observed this structure on the tour with hand pits and on test slopes that stubbornly pulled away at that same interface.
