Quick report

A snowpit near ridgeline on a SE aspect at ~7,000 ft produced a reactive test score of ECT13. (test was repeated with the same result.) Failure occurred on an icy bed surface with facets above the bed surface, overlain by a crust and recent storm snow. This problem seemed isolated to just below the ridge-line on this aspect. A pit on a NE aspect (~6,500ft) produced an ECTX, with a retest yielding an ECT30. The same faceted layer was present but appeared more cohesive and better bonded in this location. During travel, we observed no other signs of instability. Dry loose sluffing was noted in steep terrain. Wide spread hoar frost + intense solar heating was also noted.
