Mt Armstrong Mt Armstrong. 30-40 of new snow from the 10/11 Sept has bonded well to the underlying melt freeze crust. Above 1800m the skiing is good with a supportive crust and 10-20cm of wind affected snow. Below 1800m the snowpack is warmer making travel and skiing more difficult, by midday the snowpack was isothermic. Between the hut and 1600m the snowpack was unsupportive sliding all the way to tussock.
