Rossiter Creek to Lyle Creek Tour

Did a loop tour from Rossiter Creek to Lyle Creek and rode some steep trees on a NW aspect. Snow was excellent in protected areas. 10cm of new snow today covered surface hoar above 1500m. The surface hoar sits on a suncrust on some solar aspects.

Dug two profiles in an avalanche path at 1800m and one in an open glade below at 1650m. At 1800m we had one Compression test hard sudden planar result down 45cm on decomposing fragments. Extending column tests had no results. We did a deep tap test on the Dec Melt Freeze crust which was down 125cm and we had no result on it. At 1650 we had a Hard Sudden Collapse down 127cm on Facets below the Dec Melt Freeze crust. We also had a Moderate sudden planar down 40cm on decomposing fragments. Extended column test had no results.
