Extended column test on short W aspect slope produced sudden planar at 22 below the most recent rain crust (~55 cm down). An adjacent compression produced failure at 15 on the same layer (first picture with the distinct crust slice). A second thicker older rain crust was observed ~75 cm down. Snow pack had no signs of instability where we skied (SE trees off Round Mountain). New storm snow appeared fairly evenly distributed- no significant wind loading observed
