Good dust on soft crust skiing on East and NE aspects. Solars had fresh sun crust on it from today and yesterday. - 4 to start and -1C at treeline at noon with light winds.
Did a snow profile, HS 170cm, adjacent to an East facing avalanche path at 2050m found a cohisve slab of new snow 43cm thick on-top of some sugary 1-2 mm facets(4F). A compression test was giving easy results and extended column test moderate results both with a sudden collapse character on these facets.
Had lots of cracking in the trees and some whumpfing in the avalanche paths below 1900m.
An adjacent NE avalanche path avalanched (size 2) from ridge top to the bottom of it's runout from a wind slab but didn't involve much mass.
