Snowpack

What a DAY! Wet n' Warm like the bowl of Soup I needed when I got home. Poured rain while we unloaded..... sucked it up, poured on the trail up to the cabin..... soaked it up, then it puked for a couple hours above 2000m (barely). 15mins after digging the snow pit there was water running down the test wall from the snow pack above. Temp at time of Obs was -0.5 The upper 10cm was so wet that I didn't feel the tests were very effective. Easy and Moderate taps could barely get past the elephant snot. This is a time when test results don't always give an indication of the likelihood of slides. Use basic instincts, heavy on top light pow from last week underneath. Feels like trouble.
