White Rabbit Cornice

Large cornice accidentally triggered above the White Rabbit couloir by a bootpacking skier punching a foot through the snow next to the rocks. The cornice ripped about 30m across and entrained the snow below it down to the smooth rock, gathering plenty more snow in the couloir on its way down. The debris ran to mid runout. There's still a car-sized chunk of hangfire perched at the top of the couloir and lots more cornice along the ridge to either side. A lucky escape! Use your probe and don't blindly follow other parties' tracks. The difference between safe and not safe can be inches.
