McKirdy Cabin Area

Highly wind affected alpine and open tree line. 10-20 cm wind slab on top of old snow is not reactive to skier traffic. Best skiing was found in steep SW gladed areas where top 20-30 cm faceted out without any wind effect. No recent avalanche activity observed.

Winds picked up overnight from the 16th to 17th to moderate with strong gusts from NW.

Test pit dug down 100 cm. 2cm of new snow over the 3 days. Top 37 cm facets overlying surface hoar 3mm with supportive mid pack of pencil hardness below with no other significant layers.
