Powder Hunt

When we drove out this morning to Pine Pass we had questions about windslabs and lingering weak layers (surface hoar). At Mount West we observed wind affected snow in the alpine and moderate winds building fresh slabs later in the day. In sheltered areas we found deep powder and great riding. Digging down into the snowpack at Treeline we found buried surface hoar down 35 cm and 70 cm. With this in mind, we stayed away from large terrain and had fun riding small slopes and treed rolls.
