Quick Observation
Took a few laps at Chief Pascall to investigate the damage from the rain. We found heinous breakable rain crust up to about 1600m, and above that 20cm of new snow that strong winds had consolidated into a solid slab that still skied pretty well. Evidence of an extensive natural windslab cycle up to size 2 on N’ly aspects, some of which appeared to step down to the Jan 30 layer. Loud wumpfing and collapsing at TL all day. Test results showed the Jan 30 down 55 and producing moderate results (see tab). Our assessment is that this layer is not getting reliably flushed by natural windslab and is now ripe for human triggering. Spooky!
