Quick Observation

Terrible bulletproof crust all the way up to the Uto col made ski crampons mandatory. Dropping over onto Uto Glacier we found ~20cm of soft unconsolidated snow that skied well. The Uto couloir contained no wind slab and was soft and deep, but threatened by two huge overhanging snow mushrooms that will surely fall during the next sunny day. S’ly aspects were moist and sticky when the sun was out, but the N’ly descent off Avalanche glacier contained great skiing. Banana couloir contained stable soft snow and we found corn snow in the lower crossover path.
