Grass Mountains

I went out to get some observations of the wet loose activity on the far west side of the Salmon River Mountain zone. Snow coverage began to increase on shaded aspects between 5,500 and 6,000 feet.  Shaded snow surfaces were still very firm around 2 PM. Snow in the sun was softening the upper 1-2 cm. Snow coverage becomes more consistent between 6,500 and 7,000 feet and is aspect-dependent. Looking to the west over at Pollock and the Seven Devils, the snow line was ~7,000 feet, with very little coverage below.  Very little recent wet loose activity was observed on upper elevation east-facing slopes of Pollock. Small, wet, loose activity was observed on the north face of Granite, underneath cliffs and rocks that were tilted toward the west.
