Quick report

Cracking
specific

Cold surface snow persisted through the morning hours and eventually started to become saturated due to the warming temps up to 5800'. No snow fell from the sky till 12:00. Started with light snow fall and increased in precip rate by 15:00. In the green apple creek zone I dug a pit down to the 2/7 crust on a SW aspect @5800'. Since the 7th we have received 70cm of new snow in that zone. From the surface down to 45 cm was right side up. Below that was a mix bag of crusts and weaker snow. The test results were CTM SP 50cm down & ECTX Steep test slopes at lower elevations presented with weak snow structure and soft slab formation but was unable to get propagation. Slabs would break and slide but was not wider than the length of my skis. Up at 6000' cornices were sensitive to the weight of a human.
