Quick report

Skinning laps 11:30-3pm at West and now-closed Central. West now allows uphilling on weekends except select dates -- see their website. Heavily filtered sun around noon with flurries became sustained moderate and occasionally heavy snow showers by 3pm. Large warm flakes accumulated 2-3cm atop a supportable but saturated crust. The new snow slid reasonably easily on the old surface -- sufficiently steep slopes would probably slide loose wet. Coverage: West has dirty snow, but readily skinnable. Central coverage is plenty sufficient to skin; mind the holes and rocks. Big thanks to the groomer who traveled up Golden Nugget and across the top to West. Sustained snowfall, perhaps occasionally rain, has continued until the time of this posting, ~5:45pm. It has finally begun to accumulate on rooftops in addition to the snow surface. Looking across to the backcountry around noon: Alpine terrain still has significant snow coverage, but holes and dirty patches are widespread. A big thank-you to the Summit for re-opening to weekend uphill travel and carrying out extensive work to keep the area skiable. Skinning uphill is vastly more fun than riding the chair.
