Quick report
We toured into Silver Peak today. Surface crust formed out of mist/light rain on the morning of Jan 6 was prominent between 6,000' and 7,000', but very thin and hardly noticeable at and above 7,300'. The crust extended up to around 8,000' in the thin, weak, hardly noticeable state.
Ridgetop winds out of the E remained moderate speed at and above 8,000' with only very minor amounts of blowing/drifting snow ongoing. Minimal amounts of snow remain available for transport by NE-E winds. We ski cut a few pockets of wind slab. For the most part we got no results. Some minor cracking occurred only if the slab was previously undercut.

Moderate speed E winds with very little blowing snow.
Snowpack
We noted some minor faceting below one of the many rain crusts in the upper snowpack in our pit at 7,680' on a N aspect. We had a single ECTP result on this weak layer (some faceting rounds) found 1.5 feet below the snow surface. We were not able to repeat the propagation result in additional ECTs, getting either ECTN or no result on that particular layer.
