Quick report
It was nice to have some winter-like temps on my LJ romp yesterday with a classic approach; ski boots til about 5k (a little ways past the ol' hippie compound), new snow didn't start stacking til the summer TH (~4" there), and a good foot/foot-n-a-half up high. There were some stiff windslabs at a few points near the ridge. I didn't dig at all as I was seeking out mellow pooder, but from my travels, I didn't experience any instabilities in the new snow. It was a blustery one with winds coming from all directions on the way up until the summit ridge where it was ripping out of the W/SW, with intermittent snow showers throughout the day. I skied the due East from near the summit down into Larry Creek and found windboard/sastrugi for the first 700 ft. or so, and then excellent bouncy dad pow below that. I climbed back up and then skied the approach ridge/trail, which has filled in nicely above the summer TH.
