Snowpack
We observed a thin, stable snowpack today. An average of 15cms of new low density, unconsolidated snow sits on top of a crumbly 2cm crust, several cms of faceting rounds, and the knife hard rain crust on northern aspects and protected areas BUT on solar aspects and unshaded areas the new snow is sitting on the ground. This new snow can sluff on steep slopes but cannot soften the blows of low snowpack travel hazards. If you do ski, ski with caution and your rock skis.
