Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Toured to bear gap and ski'd mellow glades on east side. Avoided AT as much as possible. Mega cornices across all ridgelines (including a few overhanging the east side. East slopes had a 1cm solar crust/film. Wind effect and slabs are dotting all slopes with a lot of loading on the North and west sides of the ridges. Bowl's and open slopes looked ominously pillowy and loaded from afar (especially with all of the cornice overhang). With general travel, there was very little signs of instability or cracking with anywhere from 20-40cm of unconsolidated snow along our route.
Avalanche
SSE aspect on a small convexity. Small D0.5 wind slab triggered by snowboarder, not carried or caught. Also a large shooting crack intentionally triggered on windslab at ridgeline. Crack shot 6-8 feet both directions with compression at the base of the slab .
