Quick report

The top few inches of the snowpack did not solidly refreeze overnight at the elevations we traveled in (below 4600 feet) . We observed several old avalanches and heard shedding from rocks, but poor visibility prevented us from seeing it. Towards the end of the day, ski penetration increased to a few inches, but we weren’t able to get anything to slide stomping on test slopes. Overall, the skiing was better than expected.

Avalanche

We observed two large avalanches near Source Lake and a handful of other small avalanches underneath rocky sections. Around 11am, we heard an shedding coming from the direction of Bryant Peak. With the poor visibility we couldn’t see the exact location.
