Overall found moist but rideable snow on non south facing aspects. South facing aspects warmed significantly throughout the day. We observed a stout crust 8 “ - 12” below the new snow, mainly on Southern aspects. This crust was reactive in small hand pits and failed suddenly in a planner fashion both above and below the crust
Avalanche
Saw numerous small wet loose avalanches on all aspects from 4000’ - 5600’ these were both skier triggered and natural releases. This activity seemed most active when the sun came out. Also observed larger D1 - D2 slab avalanche release naturally on a NW facing slope at 5400. The slab looked to range in size from 12” - 18” in depth and propagated 50+’ Also observed larger D1 - D2 wet loose slide on a south facing slope release naturally and run several hundred feet Including a cliff band in its path
