The snowmobile ride into the area was quite surprising with challenging trail breaking in deep snow. Likewise trail breaking on skis was quite slow as we ascended to ridgeline. The snow remained cold and dry on polar aspects above 5200’. Below that elevation snow became more dense with a light sun crust on all but true north aspects. It remained mostly clear skies and sunny on our climb into the area. By the time we exited cloud cover was increasing and becoming broken. The wind remained calm during our tour. Likewise solar aspects and flats had a sun crust even at our high point of 6800’. We primarily skied on mellow terrain but could intentionally get small, isolated slabs to slide on very steep pockets. We did observe some roller balls on adjacent steep solar aspects but otherwise did not observe any avalanche activity.
