Quick report
On a very early circumnavigation of Table Mountain I was surprised to hear the loud rumble of snow blocks careening down the mountainside. Due to a lack of adequate daylight and position I did not observe the slide but it seemed to emanate from the glide-avalanche prone slabs in the Boulderfield. At the time there was no direct sunlight and it was 19 degrees out. Several hours later I was equally surprised to see a large group congregated at the edge of a significant debris field below these slabs. They were not actively searching or digging in the debris so I presume there was no avi incident. In my impression there was still a lot of hang-fire on those slabs waiting to come down. My experience this morning as well as the fatality that occurred on Widow Maker several years back demonstrate that glide avalanches don’t follow schedules or avalanche theory. IMO best to avoid that general zone below these slabs between the Boulderfield and Herman Saddle.

Heard loud rumble of snow blocks from slabs by the Boulderfield. Size unknown but called D2 as single large block could certainly injure/kill someone. Significant debris field observed later in day presumably from multiple events over last 10 days….
