Warm day in the mountains with a fog coming in and out for the first half of the day. Occasional snow showers and light winds were observed. Snowed a small amount overnight, less than 2".
Snowpack
A layer of buried surface hoar was the most notable observation found in two locations over the past several days on NW-NE aspects. This surface hoar was buried on 2/14 and the two locations I found were above 7,000'. Fortunately, this layer as of yesterday didn't have a slab above it and wasn't reactive in snowpack tests. For me, this is just a good layer to keep an eye on, as it has been found in other locations, and although the distribution may be specific and spotty, it could be problematic, in the future.
