Quick report
Warm day with wet, sticky snow along the road to Crater Lake. On shaded slopes above Crater Lake, the surface snow was faceted, which made for enjoyable skiing conditions. Facets at the ground were dry and weak, and there was also another faceted layer just above the knife hard rain crust a foot from the surface. Primary concern today was the facets at the ground, especially because they were dry at this location. But the other two faceted layers will be worth monitoring given the possibility of new snow in the forecast.
Facets at the ground produced unstable results on an ECT. They were dry, unlike other recent obs in the vicinity. When it failed (on a hard tap), the ECT column dropped and facets shot out from the bottom.Weather
