Traveled from repeater ridge to the cross. Light west wind at high elevation. S-1 snow fall. Persistent slabs existed with wind slabs forming. Dug a snow pit at 9180’ on a W facing slope at approx 43.87, -114.71 on the back side of the cross. Observed CTE, Q1 planar sheet, and failed at 47cm down on likely buried surface hoar. Approx. 90cm total snow at 9180’ with 30cm of new snow. Very weak faceted base layer. Evidence of isolated cracking and collapsing snow.

Saw persistent slab avalanches on the north side of highway 75 near the Alexander Ross pullout. See photos.
