Quick Observation

The sun allowed us to easily reach our goals for the day. Providing spectacular views and excellent riding conditions. This also allowed us to have a great view of indicator slopes helping our travel decisions.

Avalanche Information

On our travel back home our group came across a sled triggered sz 1 avalanche. we suspect this slid on the recent storm sl interface but did not confirm. we also noted many loose sloughs on steep solar aspects in the alpine.

Weather

Very cold in the morning heading out. It warmed up through the day and we found it to be the warmest in the alpine as the sun came out. as the sun went away however it was right back to -24 for the trail ride home

Snowpack

Over the course of the day we dug a number of profiles in the alpine and tree line elevations. We had repeated moderate/ hard sudden collapse on both the Jan 9 th SH down 25-30 cm. As well as the dec 15 SH/FC down 40 cm. However we were unable to get any propagation out of repeated ECT.
