Quick Observation

With everyone and their dog heading to Miner's gully, we thought to venture up into Goat Shit Gully and see how the skiing was. Pretty much every south or east facing rock face had unloaded mosts of its snow, leaving frozen debris everywhere. Sun crusts were unbreakable or barely breakable up to 2400 m in S and E aspects. In shaded areas where things were not so sun affected, some wind deposition was evident with soft snow or up to 5 cm thick wind slabs. The majority of the terrain had been thoroughly baked, and evidence of many wet avalanches up to size 2 were evident. High whispy clouds prevented any softening of the crusts prior to 10 AM.
