Today we rode to Broadview Lake. 20 cm of new snow fell overnight with strong south-west winds. The new snow is starting to add up over the February 7th crust. Above 1550 metres, you could not feel it. Snow fell at a steady rate of 2 cm per hour throughout the day, with sustained moderate to strong south-west winds. Temperatures hovered around -2 to -4 degrees throughout the day. We were not able to get out of the below treeline elevation due to avalanche hazard and travel conditions, but we assume storm slabs were building on all aspects and elevations.
We stuck to meadows and non-avalanche terrain for the day to avoid avalanche hazard.
