Quick Observation

Great first turns for 2019 in the Lizard Range today! We were hoping for some sun but were stuck in clouds all day and views were obscured. We took a conservative line up a ridge and with the poor light tried to give cornices a wide berth. Moderate southerly winds and cold (-13C) temps made the summit an uncomfortable place to be. Suspecting that there would be fresh windslabs on open north and east slopes we headed for the trees instead. We found some great pow turns in the snow rimed trees where visibility was better and the snow wasn't wind affected.
