Going back through the historical records there are pages of avalanche activity . Some natural, some explosive triggered, and some human triggered. The culprit in these avalanches was a layer of facets buried near the ground. Many of these were repeater avalanches with lots of exclamation points!! describing size and destructive force. It could also be noted that this was a year categorized as a "Super El Nino" year. Read the full 1997-1998 UAC Annual Report HERE.
