Scrambled up to the summit of 8812 Peak today from Balu Pass. 10cm new snow in the parking lot which was on top of a melt freeze (rain?) crust up almost to the summit. Lots of windslabs up to 50cm deep in the alpine, but we didn’t see any avalanche activity or have any cracking, shearing or whumphing. We skied back to the parking lot although we hit quite a few rocks from the top of Balu Ridge all the way down. Great first day out!
