Went for a look at Mt Bell N col, not great. It seems the glacier has broken up quite a bit lately. Have been lucky enough to ski this line in September and October in years gone by but doesn't seem like it will be an early season ski anymore. The lower glacier has melted out leaving a large shrund at the base. The lower portion is now hanging and broken wall to wall at the choke where it used to just be a small crack on climbers right. Large crevasses and hole on climbers left of the whole line are just getting bigger too. A number of groups have been up for a look but a bit of a shame no MIN posted. Pictures of these dying glacial lines will be important information to share in future.
Alpine coverage around 50cm has faceted to ground. Most wind affect has been broken down too. Easy to create point release power sluffs in steep terrain. Ski pen to ground makes for tricky skiing. Widespread surface hoar up to 10mm everywhere. Coverage on the summer trail is ok but expect to scratch some rocks. Wear a helmet and be alert on the way up as there are places where it's difficult to keep your speed in check.
