Avalanche Information
While snowshoeing on Maligne Lake to Hidden Cove we observed natural avalanche debris beginning on cliff bands of peak between Opal Peak and Leah Peak and running into the tree-line. Probably a size 2. Perhaps started as a loose and triggers a slab, as it is quite wide immediately below cliff bands. Mid-morning. Temperature -20C On our way back from Hidden Cove after 3pm we observed new avalanche debris starting from lower rocks on same mountain. Appeared to be 5ish narrow loose avalanches. Probably size 1 but had a fairly long run. Temperature -10C While snowshoeing on Lake, breaking trail, we experienced drum like sounds, wumphing and impressive shooting cracks. We certainly learned the affects the sun has on exposed rocks!
