Quick report

Cracking
specific

D2 windblown slab avalanche that started shallow but collected enough to cause trauma in the trees below. Luckily I approached it with caution due to feeling the icy layer. Triggered in the top with a test cut. I had not experienced other slab sliding or cracking in the rest of the tour. Only minor light weight newer snow in the uppers above the rock with better cohesion to the snowpack up there. Places that normally collect windblown on the ridge were more scoured than loaded. Sharks were less frequent than past days but not much snow overall.

Avalanche

Below and lookers right of mammoth rock on a steep icy section that had collected 4-12 inches of wind blown slab. This section is lookers right of the standard up track and the my preferred ski out.
