Glacier Valley

Skied 3 ENE facing couloirs on the way up Glacier Creek to assess the extent of solar damage. Measured sun affect to begin 43* NE. I would suspect symmetrical affect on NW faces. Shady side of each couloir was still boot-top powder, however hanging snow patches on the solar aspects had previously dumped cement into the centerline of each couloir. Also interesting to note is an old crown-looking interface on the very steep (45*+) top outs. I suspect these upper sections are unreleased pockets from the January shed cycle. It's an interesting dynamic this time of year with a huge gradient of snow quality in a small space. Best bet for quality skiing is to stay +-40 degrees from north and you'll ski great powder.
