Quick report

While taking a lap on the freshly groomed trail around the mine (Thank you MatSu Ski Club!) Lots of signs of spring are here. I noticed a new small slab avalanche on the curtain just before Rae Wallace 1, fresh point releases on multiple aspects and steep terrain, and had a fresh roofalanche come down just in front of us while passing one of the restored bunk houses. This was a great reminder that several buildings at the mine still have plenty of snow on them to slide. Weather- mostly sunny, clouds over the valley, no wind in the bowl, Independence snotel reported 33F and avg winds of 1mph. It felt quite hot while standing in the sun. I would assume if things freeze tonight there will be a crust in the morning. Snow was wet.
