- <p>Fresh wind drifts seemed quite reactive on the very low density stellars. Noted a few small fresh wind slabs off Superior, one on a SE aspect at around 10500', roughly 50' wide, running 300' vert, and one on NE at 10000' below the black pyramid, also 50' wide and ran about 200' vert. Above 10600' it was hard to see snow that wasn't wind effected.</p> <p>Dug at 10300' on NW aspect in upper Mill B, slope angle 30 degrees, HS 175. CTH Q3 (Break), 30cm down on old/new interface. Deep Tap Test no results on early December faceted layer, which was 110cm down. The grains were roughly 0.5mm, rounding facets. This layer seems to be compressing well under the weight of the settling layers above, at least at this elevation. Average HS at 10000' on N'ly aspects was 140cm.</p>
Noted areas of large feathery surface hoar, mostly near and directly on ridgetops in past few days, and creating a slippery surface on the skin track. Todays wind was scattering and breaking apart the feathers.
