Ski tour from Jewel Basin Yurt up to the notch and over to Picnic Lakes.

Quick report

Mashed potatoes to 6,300 feet transitioning to breakable and then supportive crust as we approached the notch. Various crusts terrian east of the notch in the Picnic Lakes area. Moderate winds, good visibility. No signs of instability observed. Large recent D2.5 slab avalanche observed on N aspect near Mt. Aeneas summit. Details below. Short tour as the skiing was meh and it was visibly sunny in the valley.

Crown appeared to originate approximately 200m down the ridge from Mt. Aeneas summit. Crown appeared to zig-zag across and downthe slope for approximately 100m. Observed the crown from approximately 1 mile away in the Picnic Lakes area, so difficult to assess depth, estimated 2-4 feet tall.
