Blackmore

We skied Blackmore today and observed several dry loose avalanches on the east face, primarily in areas where new snow sat on a firm crust. We also triggered some fairly large wind slabs lower on the east face and noted consistent wind loading on this aspect throughout the day. We skied the north face and found no signs of instability, with 4–5 inches of fresh snow. Winds were strong along the ridgelines but calm in the basins and trees. The skin track was in from the parking lot, and we were able to ski all the way out, using extra caution in the final mile where coverage remains thin. Ski quality was excellent on north-facing and lower-elevation slopes that were sheltered from the wind.
