Quick report
We took advantage of the low tide/high pressure to assess conditions in the Skyland area and to put the break-in period on a set of new snowmobiles for the Rocky Mountain Ranger District.
- 1 inch of light snow fell during the morning. It was just enough to cover existing tracks and cool down snowmobiles.
- We found isolated pockets of dry snow, without a crust, on north-facing aspects at mid elevations. These were confined to the sides of north/south running drainages near the Continental Divide. The opposing side of the gully (south-facing) had a hard, very supportable crust.
- Winds were calm to light all day.
