A large natural avalanche was observed on east facing terrain below Submarine Rock with a start zone of approximately 10k ft. Crown was 500' + wide and approximately 2' deep. The debris pile is what caught our attention initially, as it was one of the largest that I had seen in the mountains around Cooke City this winter. D2.5. On our second lap in low angle (<30 degree) terrain we experienced the largest collapse of the snowpack we had experienced all winter. It was loud and witnessed the snowpack shiver and collapse hundreds of feet down the slope. Performed ECT at the site of the collapse and found buried 2mm Facets on either side of a 2.5cm Melt Freeze Crust. ECTP25 55cm deep.
