Quick report
We traveled around the ten lakes area to check on the recent snowfall and assess buried weak layers.
- We found an incredible amount of recent snow (6 to 8 inches overnight, 1.5 to 2.5 feet since 2/17).
- We saw recent natural sluffing in the new snow as well as several slab avalanches that likely occurred during the 2/17 snowfall.
- We got mixed results with hard force on the buried surface hoar down ~2 feet.
We recognized that given the amount of recent snow, even small slopes could produce large avalanches. We gave all steep slopes a wide berth and enjoyed faceshots on low-angle and even flat terrain.
Sleds pushed sluffs around on most slopes. No collapsing during our short walks.

Pockets of low cloud. Light gusts blew some snow out of the trees, but generally calm with no blowing snow.
Snowpack
The snowpack is generally right side up with two obvious weak layers buried 60-90 cm deep. The top 40 cm are blower.

Small (D1) natural dry loose in the overnight snow. Several crowns from small to large (D1.5-2) soft slabs that likely failed during snowfall 2/17. Avalanche events to follow.
