Quick report
No avalanches or instability observed. We did see wind flagging on the bigger peaks in view. There was enough cloud cover and light wind throughout the day to keep the snow cool and soft. Snow near the ridgeline was stiff but didn't crack.
Snowpack
The Jan 2 and Christmas crusts were prominent in our snowpit at 6500 feet SE. The Jan 2 crust was was pencil hard, 1cm thick, and 55cm down. This top half-meter of snow was right side up, fist hard to 4F. Snow between the crusts was 1F facets. The Christmas interface was knife hard, 3cm thick, and 85 cm down. Snow below the lower crust was also 1F facets. Test pit: HS 230 cm ECTP 28 @ 171- fully propagated on small facets on the underside of the Jan 2 crust ECTN 25 @ 171- under Jan 2, same facets
