Quick report
Today we skinned up the Jewel Basin road and then up to checkerboard via the northern ridge. We saw only a few signs of recent wind affected snow with no cracking or collapsing. The snow was mostly unconsolidated and we did not find any slabs although there was some sloughing on steeper sections. We dug a pit on a NW aspect at 6200' with non-propagating results, although several weak layers were observed. The skiing quality was excellent with some bushwhacking getting back to the road.
