Quick report
- Cracking
- widespread
- Collapsing
- widespread
A talkative snowpack on Maverick today. We experienced widespread shooting cracks and large audible collapses on the tour up. The most reactive terrain appeared to be from 7,500’ to 8,500’. This coincided with the most “upside down” skiing conditions as well. We did not observe any avalanches, but we certainly weren’t looking for any. There was about 5” of new snow at the parking lot and close to 25” at 9,200’.
3-5mm surface hoar and 1mm facets were observed under the new snow on an east facing slope near the summit of Mavs.
