Large array of snow conditions out there thanks to NW wind (increasing at 16:00 yesterday at JHMR Summit) and melt freeze crusts on W-S-E aspects across all elevations of varying breakableness.
Observed active wind loading along exposed ridgelines, through large canyon funnels, and off the majority of the high peaks with large, visible plumes. Northerly aspects were scoured while S-E leeward aspects were quickly wind loading. Terrain was also being cross loaded on specific features. This wind affect was primarily occuring in the upper elevations, but also seen above 8500' on specific-isolated terrain in those large canyon wind funnels. Saw a couple of dry avalanches within the last 24-48 hours that were either storm or wind slabs in the upper elevations viewed from a distance. Felt some stiffened surfaces and wind slabs but did not experience any reactivity or cracking surfaces.
Melt freeze crust on southerlies found above 12,000'. Crusts began warming in the upper elevations between 9:00-11:00 depending on elevation. Continued confirmation of widespread wet loose activity on those southerlies yesterday, primarily D1 with some possible D2 previously reported around Mt Wister. Strong solar influence on sheltered aspects. Less so on terrain exposed to the sustained wind. Out of the mountains by 12:00 so unsure how much wet loose activity occured during the day.
